Abstract: The metaphor is widely used stylistic means of the Altay riddles along with comparison and embodiment. The big group of the Altay riddles are made the riddles about the universe, about natural phenomena, about a plant and animal life, about household goods and special group make riddles about the person. The main sources of metaphors in the sphere «Person» are the terms connected with appearance, parts of a body and internals of the person. In this sphere different signs, properties and characteristics are the basis of metaphorical transfer.
